On Purpose

Clients often desire to explore the amorphous concepts of life’s meaning and purpose in session. The following poem was inspired by some of these explorations:

The purpose of the mountain is to stand tall and catch the sun.

The purpose of the grass is to blow in the wind.

The purpose of the dog is to chase the cat.

The purpose of the cat is to chase the mouse.

The purpose of the mouse is to hide from the cat and get the cheese.

And maybe, just maybe, the purpose of the human is to observe the self observing these things, on purpose.
